Am I eligible to work at a summer camp in Canada with AmeriCamp Canada?

Want to start your Canadian adventure with AmeriCamp Canada but not sure if you’re eligible to apply? Check out our eligibility criteria below.

Eligibility Criteria:

You’re eligible to take part in the AmeriCamp Canada program if:

You’ll be at least 18 years old by the time you depart for Canada (typically by June 21st 2022)
You’re available from June 21st 2022 (at the very latest) until mid-August 2022
You’re from a Visa Exempt country (or you possess an IEC)
You have no criminal record
You need to be a student in order to partake in the AmeriCamp Canada program. This includes if you are becoming a student or are graduating this year. (Proof of student status will be asked of all applicants).

Helpful Criteria:

You’ll be a highly desirable candidate if you meet the following criteria:

You’re starting or returning to full-time education after summer 2022
You’re flexible with your availability dates
You’re open-minded about the type of camp that you want to work at
You have qualifications or experience in the activities that camps operate

No qualifications or previous experience required:

You don’t need to have qualifications to apply to be a camp counsellor with AmeriCamp Canada. You just need: a passion for experiencing new cultures, an open mind, and bags of energy!
